A loft-style interior is not always a large-scale hall or warehouse that (at first glance) lends itself to residential adaptation. So what are lofts? – by design, large open spaces of (post)factory buildings, industrial plants, whose glory years have passed, and which are waiting for their second chance offering the best they have – interiors precisely!
And with these words we could end the topic, when our perceptions of lofts tend to coincide with such a simplistic definition… and perpetuated largely by American movies and TV series – New York buildings populated by local bohemians creating their original studios, galleries and, at the same time, affordable housing… Sure! Although not always and not everywhere…
A real problem arises when such space is severely limited. Not always a large-scale hall or warehouse is suitable for adaptation for residential purposes, when we are looking for access to natural light, necessary installations, utilities taking into account both aesthetic and economic considerations… Instead of literal lofts – in the hard version – then we are left with smaller, often poorer stylistically interiors, which we can successfully furnish, but according to our expectations in a “lighter” and more affordable soft-loft option. Simply put – loft style interiors!
Loft style interior – the devil is in the details!
This is how modern housing construction allows us to create a user-friendly space regardless of their favorite style. It provides the necessary elements, leaving room for the ideas of the investor and his designer.
Industrial style, like almost any other style actually, has evolved over time; and although it is far from (by design) cozy moody rustic interiors, stately glamour-style living rooms or cool interiors native to Scandinavia, it often happens that it also smuggles in elements of them, effectively combining them into an eclectic cohesive whole.
Thus, in a small studio or M2, M3 of average size you can successfully find accents such as fragments of walls finished with brick (preferably the old one, coming from the demolition of old buildings) or its slightly cheaper, but equally attractive, counterpart in the form of brick-like tile – We were personally tempted to choose their proposal for our permanent offer keeping in mind, above all, a Polish product of high quality, easily and quickly available on the local market. Old style doesn’t mean bad at all, and properly selected “styling” can work just as well! It’s worth taking inspiration from proven ideas!
Right next to these “masonry”, when there are no other functional screens in place, sometimes appear Walls with durable steel construction, complemented by safety glass with different visual effects. Usually it’s fixed panels – smooth or with an interesting arrangement of transverse muntins – the choice of them is really impressive!
This versatile and extremely popular solution for years allows not only to cleverly separate more niches and alcoves in the room – a small kitchenette, mini bedroom, “closet”, etc. – is on top of that extremely attractive its decoration in the favorite loft style! In addition, such a wall can be complemented by swinging or (taking up less space!) sliding doors, other original elements such as swinging panels, windows or even ventilation grilles… The color of the steel frame does not even need to be overly mentioned – here full freedom! Viva Magenta!!! Viva loft interiors!
Therefore, it is worth remembering that various – sometimes really surprising – ideas for finishing and arranging the walls found, as well as those deliberately designed, the mentioned solutions can give (especially a small) interior the expected character! Efficiently applied will focus attention on a selected part of his space, create a perfect background for the display of furniture and decorations responsible for completing a particularly desirable climate… Who of us will refuse a moment of relaxation in a cozy corner, in the midst of silence in the “embrace” of a comfortable armchair, with a good book in hand and a cup of aromatic coffee on the table next to it…? Oh yes… each of us dreams of such moments to ourselves.
Yes, yes… In the good company of furniture, time passes much more pleasantly… Each space, especially a demanding but well-decorated one, puts us in a positive mood, provides a sense of security, allows us to indulge in daily pleasures, but also in our duties, without worrying about comfort during their execution…
Loft decor that is also furniture.
Continuing the thought – at this point – it is therefore impossible not to mention the following wood – a natural and warm material, stylish floor finishes and, above all, the already mentioned furniture. A wide selection of species, an almost unlimited palette of colors of its finishes allow us to match our needs with a table, an intriguing chest of drawers or a functional enclosure – for example, with the model solutions of the collection of Simple Pine . After all, it is not always the number of elements that matters (especially in small interiors!). On the contrary, a good arrangement using a limited amount of furniture once again saves valuable space, separates functional zones, brings real order and reigns in the harmony of our entire interior. It is this minimalism that is a recognizable feature of the loft style….
You can go a little more crazy here in the selection of accessories, decorations – but remembering that these – almost like words, tell others about us, invite them into our world sometimes revealing the tiniest secrets… Oh yes, yes….
